We are Roamler, a scale-up, headquartered in Amsterdam-Noord, offering B2B crowd-supported solutions. We are solving a huge pain that FMCG brands and retailers have with acquiring real-time data. Imagine having to manage data needs for 70+ stores across the country; a daunting logistical task with a substantial resource drain. But why go to all the stores where other people are going anyway?

We provide companies with a "superpower" to swiftly, efficiently, and cost-effectively gather data giving a view on the current state of the market. This approach involves leveraging online gathered data and consumers who act as an additional set of eyes for brands. We are looking for

someone to drive the data science products in Roamler together with our other sr data scientist. As a data scientist you will be building and maintaining machine learning algorithms to build valuable data driven products for our customers. This can range from classifical classification problems to NLP and image recognition. You know how to get value from the large amount of data we collect on a daily basis and understand when to apply a state of the art machine learning algorithm or when a smart business rule will do.

Responsibilities

• Add value by finding data solutions that fit with the business problems we want to solve for our customers

• Apply machine learning algorithms to keep adding to and improving our pipeline and services that power all data applications

• Don’t let your view on a problem end at the pure Data Science scope. But interact together with our engineers to get the POC to production

• Write production quality code

• Identify new opportunities in our huge data lake

• Work with the team to continuously make things better, do code reviews, and share your knowledge and make every day a fun day

Your profile

• Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in a quantitive field (e.g. data science, computer science, artificial intelligence)

• 5+ years of working experience as a Data Scientist

• Experience with Python (sklearn, numpy, pandas, etc.)

• Experience with a spark system, preferably pyspark

• Knowledge of and experience with machine learning algorithms, such as cluster algorithms, SVM, Gradient Boosting

• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud services is a plus

• Broader technical experience like computer vision or NLP

• Eager to challenge the status quo and experiment with new tools/methods

• Written and verbal communication skills in English

• Proactive attitude and courage to speak up

• Currently living in the Netherlands
