We are looking for a Junior Kitchen Assistant to join our BUX team based in Amsterdam.

You’ll be part of The People’s Team alongside a dedicated Head Chef and Chef, with plenty of room to contribute your ideas and talents. As part of our kitchen team, you’ll prepare and serve fresh, nutritious lunches for 60-150 colleagues from Monday to Thursday in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Creativity and efficiency are essential; we welcome both as you prepare meals. Work hours are flexible and open to discussion, with 5-hour shifts daily/20-hours a week.

What you will do

Your primary responsibility is to support the Chef and Head Chef where needed. You are the essential extra pair of hands and all-rounder in the kitchen area. We take health and safety regulations seriously, and understanding these is a desired skill.

• Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients, follow recipes, and assist in making dishes as per menu standards
• Cleaning and Sanitizing: Keep the kitchen clean by regularly sanitising surfaces, equipment, and utensils
• Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, store ingredients properly, and notify management of any shortages
• Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to food safety guidelines, including proper food storage, handling, and cooking temperatures
• Assisting Chefs: Support the culinary team by preparing ingredients, plating dishes, and assisting during busy periods
• Dishwashing and Maintenance: Wash dishes, pots, and pans and ensure all kitchen equipment is in good working order
• Waste Reduction: Manage food portions, minimize spoilage, and dispose of waste responsibly

What you need to succeed

• At least 1 year of experience supporting kitchen staff with basic cooking skills
• Comfortable working with and preparing food for larger groups
• Able to work comfortably in an English-speaking environment
• Experience with washing up and maintaining a tidy kitchen is essential
• Availability for 5-hour shifts daily/20-hours a week
